We at America House Kyiv love to read, and we know many of you love to read too. We’re happy to announce the launch of our new Between the Lines Book Club.
Between the Lines Book Club will be an exploration of American literature past and present. We’ll visit some old favorites like Hemingway, and meet some contemporary stars such as Donna Tartt. Between the Lines Book Club will meet twice a month, once near the beginning of the month to discuss the author and the life they lead, and once at the end of the month to discuss the book itself.
Our August selection is one of ELR Charlie’s favorites, and a certified classic by one of the titans of American literature: The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. At our first meeting on August 1st, we’ll go into more detail about the book club’s structure and the plan going forward. Once we’ve wrapped up that, we’ll do a deep-dive into the life and times of Ernest Hemingway and the Lost Generation. After that, you’ll have until September 5th to read the book (in English or Ukrainian).
Attendance and participation are free. You just need to let us know if you’re coming by registering for the event in advance. We’ll save you a spot and keep you posted about any changes.
