  • America House Kyiv 6 Mykoly Pymonenka Street Kyiv, 02000 Ukraine (map)

Join us at America House Kyiv for a special screening of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, followed by a conversation about Kim Barker’s journey from investigative reporter to bestselling author and inspiration for the screen. The discussion will highlight her work with The New York Times, ProPublica, and other leading publications, as well as her contributions to investigative reporting, including her Pulitzer Prize–winning work.

Blending dark humor with real-life experience, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot captures the complexity of war, journalism, and personal transformation. Based on Kim Barker’s memoir “The Taliban Shuffle,” the film offers a behind-the-scenes perspective on the life of a foreign correspondent in conflict zones.

The discussion will also touch on Barker’s more recent reporting from Ukraine, reflecting on the realities of frontline journalism and the complexities of covering war alongside political leadership.

Together, we will explore how real-life reporting is transformed into film, how storytelling and journalism intersect, and why Barker’s voice continues to shape the way we understand global events today.
