Wednesday English With Patrice: New Rules of Friendship

  • America House Kyiv 6 Mykoly Pymonenka Street Kyiv, 02000 Ukraine (map)

New research suggests that adults around the world are lonelier than ever, even with the rise of social media, online gaming, and instant messaging apps that keep us constantly connected. So why does it feel like making and keeping friends as an adult has become harder than ever? Are the traditional rules of friendship changing and are we now entering an era of more fluid, multigenerational connections? What do modern friendships look like when work, distance, and digital life shape so much of our time and attention? And what does our ability, or struggle, to build meaningful friendships say about the world we live in today? Join us this week to discuss all things friendship in 2026.
