Join a lecture with Dr. Jia-Yi Cheng-Levine, Dean of International Affairs and Global Engagement at College of the Canyons (COC) in Santa Clarita, California. As a former international student from Taiwan, Dr. Cheng-Levine deeply understands the challenges applicants from other countries often face. During the session, she will share how to communicate with admissions officers effectively and professionally, what phrases or requests to avoid, and how to show genuine interest while creative a strong positive applicant image.
About the speaker:
Prior to that role, she was director of the international student program at COC and has been at COC for over 20 years. She came to COC from the University of Houston-Downtown as a Professor of English and has been a faculty member in the field for nearly 25 years. A native of Taiwan and an international student herself, Dr. Cheng-Levine earned her Doctor of Philosophy in English Language and Literature, with a special emphasis on Critical Theory, from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, after having earned her M.A. in English from the University of Georgia.
