Poetry in the Garden With Charlie: Maya Angelou

  • America House Kyiv 6 Mykoly Pymonenka Street Kyiv, 02000 Ukraine (map)

America House Kyiv and ELR Charlie are so excited to welcome you back for our 2nd season of Poetry in the Garden. Join us in AHK’s peaceful Urban Garden to enjoy English-language poetry as the sun sets. Each session will explore themes like love, travel, and loss through poetry.

Born and raised in Stamps, Arkansas, Maya Angelou is recognized around the world as one of the titans of American literature and poetry. Her work has been celebrated for its powerful and accessible language that blends her personal experience within the larger historical and cultural context. On September 11th, we'll be reading her work "On the Pulse of Morning." First published in 1993, the poem covers themes of change and responsibility. Join us in our Urban Garden on Thursday for a reading and in-depth discussion of one of Angelou's great poems.

Attendance and participation are free. You just need to let us know if you’re coming by registering for the event in advance. We’ll save you a spot and keep you posted about any changes.
