Poetry in the Garden With Charlie: Emily Dickinson

  • America House Kyiv 6 Mykoly Pymonenka Street Kyiv, 02000 Ukraine (map)

America House Kyiv and ELR Charlie are so excited to welcome you back for our 2nd season of Poetry in the Garden. Join us in AHK’s peaceful Urban Garden to enjoy English-language poetry as the sun sets. Each session will explore themes like love, travel, and loss through poetry.

Emily Dickinson is considered one of the giants of American poetry. Working in the 19th century, her poetry is characterized by unconventional capitalization, dashes, slant rhyme, and exploration of profound themes like, death, nature, and the self. This session, we'll be doing a comparative reading of two of Dickinson's most well known poems — "Crumbling is not an instant's Act" and "After great pain, a formal feeling comes." Join us on July 31st at 18:30 to discuss her poetry. See you in the garden.

Attendance and participation are free. You just need to let us know if you’re coming by registering for the event in advance. We’ll save you a spot and keep you posted about any changes.

📍 The deadline to register is July 31st at 12 PM.

The event will take place at America House Kyiv (Mykoly Pymonenka Street 6.) Please familiarize yourself with the rules of admission before your visit. Remember to bring your passport or driver’s license to enter America House Kyiv.

See you soon!
