Visit America House Kyiv to view our new exhibition dedicated to marking the second year of the Russian-Ukrainian full-scale invasion. In partnership with the Fulbright Program in Ukraine, the War Artists Union and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, AHK has collected works by contemporary artists portraying and reflecting on the war. Living through the invasion, each artist brings their own unique perspective and experiences, which they channel into their works. The objects in this exhibition serve as reflections of the artists' personal journeys, stemming from the darkest times and deepest emotions. Through their art, the artists showcase the fortitude and strength of the Ukrainian people and their resistance.
The exhibition is available for viewing at America House Kyiv every Tuesday, from 15:00 to 20:00, till the end of March.

Ukraine. War and Resistance
Exhibition of American and Ukrainian Photographers, alumni of the Fulbright Academic Exchange Program
With the beginning of russia’s war against Ukraine, a cohort of Fulbright photographers, both Ukrainian and American, found themselves at the epicenter of momentous events, equipped with their own weapons of defense: knowledge and a camera. They managed to capture the tragic and heroic, devastating and hopeful moments of the present life in Ukraine. Most of the photographs were taken after the russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, yet some date as early as 2014, when Russia first invaded Ukraine and annexed the Crimean Peninsula.
The idea to present these works in a single travelling photo project was initiated and implemented by the Fulbright Program in Ukraine and the Institute of International Education (IIE) Kyiv Office. In fall 2022, the photo exhibition "Ukraine: War and Resistance" debuted at the Vinnytsia museum, Ukraine. Its geography expanded to the U.S., Germany, Czech Republic, Bulgaria by now. More and more co-organizers from other countries and cities express their interest in showing these photographs, since their themes and plots are extremely important to see by all civilized people of the world.
The photo exhibition presents the works of Fulbrighters J.T. Blatty, Oleksii Furman, Brendan Hoffman, Serhii Korovayny, Joseph Sywenkyj, Emine Ziyatdinova, and Oksana Parafeniuk, a former employee of the Fulbright Program in Ukraine.

Through our art, we not only give a second life to these fragments ravaged by war but also showcase the resilience of the human spirit and the idea that creation can overcome destruction.
The exibition will present the works of Volodymyr Balyberdin, Stas Kadochnikov, Ivan Stetsiuk, and Sergiy Demchenko.

З початком війни росії в Україні, українські та американські фотографи та фотографки, стипендіати Програми імені Фулбрайта, опинилися в епіцентрі історичних подій зі своєю єдиною зброєю для захисту — знаннями та фотокамерою. Вони змогли зняти трагічні та героїчні, спустошливі та сповнені надії миті доленосного сьогодення в Україні. Більшість фотографій було відзнято після повномасштабного вторгнення, хоча деякі роботи датуються ще 2014 роком, коли росія вперше напала на Україну та окупувала Крим.
Водночас фотовиставка «Україна. Війна та опір» є проникливою ілюстрацією слів сенатора Вільяма Фулбрайта про те, що «наше майбутнє не десь там за обрієм, а вже з нами, у наших думках та серцях». Україна у війні, чинить опір і творить своє майбутнє вже зараз.
На виставці представлені роботи стипендіатів Джен Блатті, Олексія Фурмана, Брендана Гофмана, Сергія Коровайного, Йосипа Сивенького, Еміне Зіятдінової та Оксани Парафенюк, колишньої співробітниці Програми імені Фулбрайт в Україні.

В основі кожного осколка снаряда, кожного шматка танка чи уламка ракети лежить не лише історія конфлікту, але й можливість відродження. Проєкт WAU втілює цю філософію трансформації: із залишків війни народжується мистецтво. З інструментів знищення народжується українське відродження.
Наш бренд, Спілка митців війни, – це команда унікальних митців з усієї України. Нас об’єднує єдине бачення: перетворити знаряддя руйнування на виразники краси, миру та надії. Своїм мистецтвом ми не лише даємо друге життя цим зруйнованим війною фрагментам, а й демонструємо стійкість людського духу та ідею про те, що творення може подолати руйнування.
На виставці будуть представлені роботи Володимира Балибердіна, Стаса Кадочнікова, Івана Стецюка та Сергія Демченка.
