Rapid technological progress enables the expansion of production of various products every day. The more people consume, the more plastic is used and produced. "From product to product, from market to market, plastic has challenged traditional materials and won, replacing steel in cars, paper and glass in packaging processes, and wood in furniture." [Susan Freinkel, Plastics: A Toxic Love Story (New York: Henry Holt, 2011), p. 4.]
The ocean of synthetic polymers has flooded the world in various forms: toothbrushes, water bottles and cosmetics, plastic bags and utensils, computers and telephones, stationery, clothing, packaging, furniture, etc. These things have become part of us and it’s hard to imagine modern life without them. The quantity of plastic products increases every day, and the pure environment decreases. Will it ever supplant humanity - its creator?
Ukrainian Art Group ArtZebs, with the participation of Vladimir Gulich, Anastasia Loiko and VJ Yarkus in the "Plastic Ocean" project comprehends how far humanity has gone into plastic usage, such a convenient, easy, flexible and cheap material. The artists bring into public discourse the subject of what humanity, which can not give up on plastic, should do in order to avoid the possibility of a large-scale environmental disaster.
The exhibition includes interactive plastic installations and sculptures, oil paintings and media art.
The Artzebs Group is the winner of the Live Mapping Contest 2017 video forum in Amsterdam.
Volodymyr Gulich is one of the founders of the largest international symposium of contemporary art in Ukraine, "Biruchiy", which runs annually on the Azov Sea coast. Anastasia Loiko works in the genre of video art, photography, and installation.

Чим більше товарів споживає людство, тим більше виробляється та використовується пластику. «Від продукту до продукту, від ринку до ринку, пластик зробив виклик традиційним матеріалам та виграв, замінивши сталь в машинах, папір і скло в процесах пакування та дерево в меблях”. Океан синтетичних полімерів заполонив світ у різних проявах: зубні щітки, пляшечки для води та косметики, пластикові пакети та посуд, комп’ютери та телефони, канцелярські предмети, одяг, упаковки, меблі тощо. Без цих предметів важко уявити сучасне життя, вони стали частиною нас. З кожним днем кількість продукції з пластику збільшується, а середовище, вільне від нього, зменшується. Чи не витіснить він колись людину, яка його створила?
Українська творча група ArtZebs за участі Володимира Гуліча, Анастасії Лойко та VJ Yarkus в проекті “Океан пластику” осмислює, наскільки далеко людство зайшло у використанні пластику, такого зручного, легкого, гнучкого та дешевого матеріалу. Людство, яке не може відмовитись від пластику, має зробити щось, аби уникнути можливості масштабного екологічного лиха. Митці підносять цю тему в публічний дискурс.
На виставці представлені інтерактивні інсталяції, скульптури з пластику, живопис та медіа-арт.
Група Artzebs є переможцями відео-форуму Live Mapping Contest 2017 в Амстердамі.
Володимир Гуліч є одним із засновників найбільшого міжнародного симпозіуму сучасного мистецтва в Україні “Бірючий”, який щороку проходить на узбережжі Азовського моря. Анастасія Лойко працює в жанрі відео-арт, фотографії, інсталяції.
