English Movie Night: 12 Angry Men

The defense and the prosecution have rested and the jury is filing into the jury room to decide if a young man is guilty or innocent of murdering his father. What begins as an open-and-shut case of murder soon becomes a detective story that presents a succession of clues creating doubt, and a mini-drama of each of the jurors' prejudices and preconceptions about the trial, the accused, and each other. Based on the play, all of the action takes place on the stage of the jury room.

The discussion will be facilitated by Peter Jarosz, (US Embassy). Peter M. Jarosz currently serves as the United States Department of Justice Legal Advisor in Ukraine. In Ukraine, he works with prosecutors and anti-corruption law enforcement agencies to reform the Ukrainian legal system and strengthen the rule of law. Prior to coming to Ukraine, Mr. Jarosz served as a Legal Advisor in Kosovo where he provided advice on the revisions to the Kosovo Criminal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure.
