Teacher Training: Literature Circles

A four-part teacher training workshop

As teachers we first and foremost need to know our students. Their interests, needs, goals, personalities, and learning styles are all of paramount importance for us to know if we are to be of any assistance in helping them improve their English language communication skills. But ultimately we also need to have a good grasp on the parts of speech of the English language if we hope to nurture nuanced understanding and fluent usage of them for our students. In this workshop we will take a closer look at modals, phrasal verbs, vocab strategies, and assessment, and reflect on how our teaching of certain parts of speech can be adapted to satisfy our students holistic learning needs.

Session 6: Literature Circles

We’re stepping inside the piquant confines of Lit Circles this week to experience the ways in which this collaborative approach to reading can foster deeper understanding of the material, meet different learning styles, and offer our students a chance to take control of their own learning.

Remember to bring your passport or driver's license.
