What would an American Lit Club be without a session on Mark Twain? An awkward one to say the least! It verges on sacrilege frankly, but not to worry because we’re righting the wrong in our next meeting by reading a few of the great man’s essays, ‘Advice to Youth’, and ‘My First Lie, and How I Got Out of It’, and ‘How to Tell a Story’. We’ll see for ourselves whether Twain’s famed wit translates through the years and across cultures.
