Social Media and Art - Brighter Worlds Ukraine
At first, social media were means of entertainment, just as filmmaking once was. Later they turned into something addictive and necessary for society. Then the social media evolution transformed them into a way of expressing oneself: Facebook and Twitter became mediums of revolutions.
This talk will address how artists mold their accounts into instruments of art, and why everything that's going on on the Internet is important for contemporary art.
Andrii Drahan is the Creative Reporting Instructor of the Brighter Worlds: Confronting Violence Through Youth-Oriented Media project on the Ukrainian side. This innovative educational project for Ukrainian and US youth is made possible by the Museums Connect grant program initiated by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the American Alliance of Museums. The project is jointly implemented by AS22O, an artist-run organization in Providence, Rhode Island, and IZOLYATSIA foundation in Kyiv. Andrii has a background in creative writing and journalism.

Соціальні мережі, так само, як і кінематограф, на початку свого існування були розвагою, що повнилася власною новітністю та незвичністю; пізніше вони перетворилися на залежність і зрештою стали необхідністю. Еволюція соцмереж зробила їх самобутнім способом виразити себе: фейсбук і твітер стали медіаторами революцій.
Приходьте, якщо вас цікавить те, як митці перетворюють звичні соцмедія на артінструмент, і чому сучасне мистецтво повинно зважати на те, що відбувається в інтернеті.

Цей інноваційний освітній проект для молоді України та США реалізується в рамках грантової програми Museums Connect, яка координується найбільшою музейною організацією у світі — Aмериканським альянсом музеїв, та є ініціативою Бюро у справах освіти та культури Державного департаменту СШA. Проект втілюється в життя AS22O, громадської мистецькою ініціативою, яка розташована в м. Провіденс, штаті Род-Айленд, та фондом ІЗОЛЯЦІЯ в Києві.
