Join us for a feature film screening taking place at America House Kyiv and participate in a discussion about privacy, paranoia, and the weight of conscience — exploring how surveillance, guilt, and emotional isolation can consume a person’s identity, fracture human connection, and expose the vulnerability of morality in a world obsessed with control — all portrayed with haunting precision in "The Conversation" (1974) from director Francis Ford Coppola.
Explore the language of cinema, watch movies in their original language, and practice your English-speaking skills through friendly moderated discussions at American Film Nights with America House Kyiv. Join us Tuesdays at 18:30 at America House Kyiv.

"The Conversation" (1974)
Harry Caul is a devout Catholic, jazz enthusiast, and San Francisco-based surveillance expert known for his custom-built equipment and unmatched skill. A fiercely private and solitary man, Harry avoids personal connections — even with his business associate, Stan — and takes extreme measures to guard his privacy. Their latest assignment involves recording a young couple’s conversation in a crowded Union Square, a job commissioned by a mysterious client known only as “the director.” As Harry analyzes the recording, he begins to suspect the couple may be in danger. Haunted by a past assignment that led to multiple deaths, Harry is torn between completing the job and preventing a possible tragedy. His pursuit of the truth soon spirals into a chilling confrontation with paranoia and guilt.
