American Studies Club: Abstract Expressionism, An American Artfom

Have you ever heard about Jackson Pollock? Eager to learn more about American art-scene? Come learn about Abstract Expressionism, the first truly American art movement that shifted the art world’s center of gravity from Paris to New York. You’ll get a chance to practice a bit of what you learn by helping create an “action painting.” Don’t miss out!

About the speaker:
Ilona Aleksandrova holds an M.A. in Art History from the City University of New York – Brooklyn College, and a B.A. in Political Science and Communications from the University of California, Berkeley. She worked in the philanthropy sector, notably as a management consultant to cultural and education nonprofit organisation in New York City. In 2016 she joined the Foreign Service and served her first tour in Kingston, Jamaica, as a Consular Officer. Ilona speaks Russian, Spanish and French.
