When Eleanor Roosevelt helped draft it, she hoped that the Declaration of Universal Human Rights would come to define and uphold fundamental freedoms worldwide.
Adopted by the United Nations in 1948, the Declaration of Universal Human Rights is considered the first global expression of the rights inherently entitled to all human beings. Today most international lawyers recognize it as international law. As a tool, it puts diplomatic and moral pressure on governments around the world.
This show is a celebration and a testimony to the rights that are basic to us all. The stories told here assure us that we can campaign for the fragile beauty that is our birthright according to the Declaration.
Many of the people depicted here came from privileged backgrounds and had access to incredible resources. But many of them didn’t. What all these people did have, though, was a group, often starting with a parent, who provided immense support. Each of these heroes stands on the shoulders of someone else. And they, in turn, invite us to climb up.

Загальну декларацію прав людини, прийняту ООН в 1948 році, вважають першим глобальним вираженням прав, на які усі люди світу мають невід’ємне право.
Сьогодні більшість спеціалістів з міжнародного права визнають декларацію міжнародним законом. ЇЇ використовують як засіб дипломатичного й морального впливу на уряди держав у всьому світі.
Цією виставкою автор віддає належне та підкреслює важливість цих основних прав.
Багато із зображених тут людей походили з привілейованих верств суспільства та мали доступ до значних ресурсів. Але є й такі у кого не було таких можливостей. Проте у них було дещо спільне – оточення, що підтримувало їх, в першу чергу – батьки. У кожної з героїнь було дружнє плече - опора, яка допомогла підніматися та рости. А у нас є можливість опираючись на їх досягнення, піднятися ще вище.
