PROPOSAL WRITING PROGRAM

A SERIES OF INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS

Learn to craft winning proposals for national and international funding with America House Proposal Writing Program. In the vast world of grant opportunities, allow us to be your guide through a series of interactive workshops, developed by America House Kyiv in cooperation with Peace Corps in Ukraine.

Designed for young professionals, activists, volunteers, and anyone passionate about making a positive impact in Ukraine, The Proposal Writing Program, led by experienced American and Ukrainian professionals Joseph Campbell and Svitlana Olieinikova, will equip you with the knowledge and support to turn your innovative ideas into funded projects. Throughout the program you will receive step-by-step instructions for effective proposal writing and learn how to avoid common pitfalls when applying for grants.

The deadline to apply is November 12th.

By participating in the program you will:

  • Master the grant proposal process, from understanding requirements to identifying the right grant and crafting successful proposals tailored to specific institutions.

  • Learn to craft winning proposals for national and international funding.

  • Receive personalized guidance and feedback from course facilitators and peers.

  • Gain insight into cultural differences in proposal writing.

  • Connect with a vibrant community of like-minded project leaders.

  • Refine your project proposals with feedback from experts (for instructor-led track only).

  • Improve your English language writing skills with sessions led in English and personalized feedback (for instructor-led track only).

Apply if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are a Ukrainian citizen, 18 years or older.

  • You do not have a substantial portfolio of international or local grants yet.

  • You are passionate about fostering positive social change within Ukrainian communities through

    community-based initiatives.

  • You are actively seeking independent funding or have received smaller grants but have not yet secured

    a substantial grant for your project.

  • You have a strong command of both written and spoken English, as the majority of the program will

    be conducted in English.

When?

The program runs for 7 weeks from November 15th to December 20th. Core meetings occur twice a week from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm Kyiv time. Individual consultations will be scheduled based on facilitator availability. Participants should dedicate at least 5 hours a week to complete the program successfully.

Participation format:

Online, with the possibility of in-person meetings at AHK.

Study tracks for your choice:

Self-study Track

This format offers a self-paced approach, allowing participants to progress at their own speed. Participants can engage in live online/offline workshops with Q&A sessions, practical exercises, and connect with an online community of program participants to ask questions and share experiences.

Is this for me? This format is suitable for those who prefer a flexible learning pace and want to gain insights into grant proposal writing at their convenience.

Instructor-led Track (up to 5 proposals)

Unlock the full potential of your grant proposal with the Instructor-led format. Participants gain access to workshops, an online community, personalized feedback, and mentorship from program trainers.

Is this for me? This format is ideal for those eager to turn their ideas into reality and are committed to building a strong foundation in grant writing. Prior experience in proposal writing is not required to participate.

In the application form you will need to choose one track that you would like to participate in. No worries if you are not selected for the Instructor-led Track, since this track has limited spots available, we'll offer you an opportunity to join the Self-study Track instead.

Participation in the program is free. Selection will be based on application screening, motivation, and diversity of the group.

Joe Campbell is a seasoned professional with over 40 years of expertise in the field of proposal development. Hailing from the city of Slidell, Louisiana, Joe has dedicated his career to crafting compelling proposals that have contributed significantly to the success of various companies across different industries. Joe's educational background has provided him with a strong foundation in communication, strategy, and project management. Throughout his extensive career, he has honed his skills in understanding client needs, synthesizing complex information, and tailoring persuasive proposals that win contracts and drive business growth. Joe Campbell engages with America House as Peace Corps Ukraine Youth Development (YD) Virtual Service Pilot Participant (VSPP).

Svitlana Olieinikova is an expert on the fundraising and capacity’s development of social, cultural and business projects. She is an organizational trainer, author of the Entrepreneurs Support Program and development programs. Graduates from the Open World Leadership Center (USA), Tech Camp (US Embassy program) and CRDF Global(USA), Stanford University's Center of Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law (USA), Institute of European politics(Germany).

About the organizers:

America House Kyiv (AHK) is a cultural center and your main resource for American culture, education, and information in the Kyiv region. AHK organizes a wide range of activities, including English-language programs, skill-building workshops, cultural events, art exhibitions, concerts and more. America House operates also in Lviv and Odesa, and is a part of the overarching framework of American Spaces Network in Ukraine that include America House and Window on America programs.

Peace Corps is a non-political and non-religious organization of the American Government that seeks to promote peace and friendship among people of different nationalities and cultures.  Peace Corps brings together skilled, committed Volunteers with welcoming host communities for service opportunities in more than 60 countries. Currently, in Peace Corps in Ukraine cooperates with Ukrainian partner organizations and communities via Virtual Service Pilot (VSP).
