America House Leadership Program

America House Kyiv is happy to announce the America House Leadership Program - a professional development program to help motivated young people realize their potential.

Why participate?

Participants will gain knowledge, practical skills, and leadership experience to kickstart their careers. They will receive mentorship from the America House team to develop their own projects and join a network of active citizens.

We offer a unique opportunity to:

  • Provide input on current issues of importance to Ukrainian youth;

  • Contribute to direct engagement with audiences, promote open dialogue, and build cultural bridges;

  • Participate in programs that promote civil society;

  • Receive personal and professional development training and mentorship;

  • Connect with motivational speakers, trendsetters and lifehackers;

  • Create and implement projects to build your CV;

  • Learn more about international exchange and educational programs offered by the US government;  

  • Improve your English;

  • Receive a certificate of achievement from America House Kyiv and a personalized letter of reference.

Ideal candidate must:  

  • Be advanced in English and native Ukraine/Russian speaker;  

  • Be a university student and resident of Ukraine (applicants must reside in Kyiv);

  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential;

  • Have strong intercultural and communications skills;

  • Demonstrate commitment to community and extracurricular activities;  

  • Be mature, responsible, independent, confident, open-minded, tolerant, thoughtful, and inquisitive;  

  • Commit to attend all the obligatory meetings and professional development workshops that are part of the program;

There are three tracks of the program:


Duration of the program October 1, 2018 - July 4, 2019

Minimum hours - 5 hours per week

Selected candidates will gain experience in:

  • Event design, implementation, and management;

  • Customer service;

  • Written communications and reporting;

  • Strategic partnership.


Duration of the program October 1, 2018 - March 1, 2019

Minimum hours - 10 hours per week

Selected candidates will gain experience in:

  • Working with all America House Kyiv equipment;

  • Assisting patrons with Makerspace projects;

  • Using technical equipment and software in the Makerspace;

  • Modelling, prototyping and designing;

  • Event tech support and tech setup maintenance.


Duration of the program October 1, 2018 - March 1, 2019

Minimum hours - 10 hours per week

Selected candidates will gain experience in:

  • Creating engaging online content;

  • Social media techniques, platforms and trends;

  • Communication campaign planning and implementation;

  • Newsletter creation and management;

  • Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and related graphic media applications.
