Become MAP it Mentor

The MAP It program is an innovative, newly developed and outcome-based mentoring program developed in collaboration with Executive Business Coach Rania Anderson for exclusive offering by America House. It is structured to provide multiple, unique types of mentoring interactions designed to advance both mentees and mentors and to build strong ties among a diverse group.  

The program timeline is October 2019 – March 2020. 

As a mentor your commitment would be joining 6 monthly meetings, the first meeting will be at America House in October 2019. 

  • October 31st, 6:30 PM -8:30 PM   

  • November 28th, 6:30 PM -8:30 PM  

  • December 19th, 6:30 PM -8:30 PM  

  • January 23rd, 6:30 PM -8:30 PM  

  • February 27th, 6:30 PM -8:30 PM  

  • March 26th, 6:30 PM -8:30 PM  

The program is built around 6 core areas of focus (see below) and will be executed in a variety of ways.  

  • Working directly and one on one with an assigned mentee and mentor. 

  • Speed mentoring between members of the group. 

  • Reverse mentoring – a process where mentees will mentor mentors. 

  • Peer mentoring – mentees will mentor fellow mentees; mentors will mentor fellow mentors. 

  • Group discussion and exploration.  

Each mentee under your mentorship will develop and work to accomplish goals established in their Mentoring Action Plan. Discussions and mentoring will focus on the following six areas: 


Process for Participation 

Potential mentees will be invited to complete an online application.  

Based on information provided by mentors and mentees, America House will match mentee/mentor pairs.  

There are no fees but all participants must commitment to attend each session. Mentees will be accountable for implementing their Mentoring Action Plan (MAP). 

Session 1 - Focus: “Career or Business”

Meet and get to know each other 

 Begin to build a MAP  

A Mentoring Action Plan (MAP) builds a bridge between where the mentee is now to where they want to be in the future. An effective plan addresses developmental areas that are important to the mentee, produce a concrete result, and very importantly, are manageable in scope.  

 Session 2 - Focus on “Style or Presence” 

Mentees meet with assigned mentor to discuss progress on MAP. 

Mentoring on Style and Presence. 

Session 3 – Focus on “Network”  

Speed Mentoring – mentees meet with X # of mentors and talk about building/nurturing a network. 

 Mentees meet with assigned mentor to discuss progress. 

Session 4 – Focus on “Craft” 

Reverse mentoring – Mentors get mentored by mentees on “Craft” 

Mentees meet with assigned mentor to discuss progress 

Session 5 - Focus on “Life” 

Speed Peer Mentoring – Mentors mentor mentors and Mentees mentor Mentees  

Mentees meet with assigned mentor to discuss progress 

Session 6 - Focus on “Community/Contributions” 

Facilitated group discussion on contributions/giving back/legacy
