American Lit Club: Sherwood Anderson

‘Mother’ from Sherwood Anderson’s acclaimed collection ‘Winesburg, Ohio’ is our story for this week.

Ranked 24th of the Best 100 English-language novels of the 20th Century by Modern Library, ‘Winesburg, Ohio’ offers us an indelible, incisive portrait of small-town life in the pre-industrial United States. The story ‘Mother’ introduces us to the main protagonist of the collection, George Willard, and some of the central conflicts of his family and character.
