Have you ever tried to trace your ancestors? How far did you go? Have you ever imagined what was the life of those people and who were they?
Alex Krakovsky, who's been working on his family tree for five years now, was able to trace his family back by the year 1600 and discover over 50 family lines, will lead the session. Come to the workshop and get equipped with the knowledge and skills how to do genealogy research on your own.
There will be four parts:
1. The history of genealogy research in the world. We will talk about the difference between Ukrainian roots and the rest of the world.
2. All the cutting-edge tools available today. It’s amazing of what we can do. It is technology that makes research so much easier. It’s really cool. Did you know that Salt Lake City is the heart of world genealogy?
3. At this stage we will talk on main sources of Ukrainian genealogy. You will be shown how main documents look like, where to find them and how to deal with those.
4. We will practice. You will get answers on any questions you might have. Be prepared. Bring all the information you have and we will work on it.
Please note, that the amount of seats is limited. Event registration is required - https://goo.gl/RFkpAC.
The goal of the workshop is to make genealogy research easier for everyone in Ukraine. Alex will be happy to help you with that.
