Friday Fun with Kevin & Nick

Chat with Nicholas 3:30-4:00
Nick comes from California. He served in the Coast Guard. He lives in Moldova, but loves Ukraine. In fact, he married a Ukrainian and now has two sweet daughters. Come and chat with him.

Learn English through Cuisenaire Rods (4:00-5:00)
English Language teacher Nicholas Huzieff will show how these colored rods (or even colored paper) can help you learn English grammatical structures such as prepositions of place, comparatives, and tenses.

Short Poems into Song (5:00-6:00)
RELO Kevin McCaughey will lead participants through the process of writing short poems. Participants will walk away with at least three complete short poems! All are encouraged to submit their poems to RELO’s “Poems into Song” campaign, where musicians will set poems written by Ukrainians to music.

Games with English Conditionals (6:00-7:00)
Nick will lead the group through several games based on conditional structures, such as “If I had… I would.” 

Advanced Ukulele Jam (7:15- 18:15)
This session is aimed at intermediate and advanced ukulele players. We won’t teach chords this time. We’ll just show songs and words on the screen and people can play along. But everyone is welcome. Come and sing and learn some new English along the way.

Bios
Nicholas Huzieff is an English Language Fellow in Moldova with the U.S. Department of State’s Office of English Language Programs at Balti State University, Moldova. He teaches graduate EFL courses created teacher training conferences and workshops for university professors and high school teachers throughout the country. 

Kevin McCaughey is the Regional English Language Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv. That means he can do all sorts of fun presentations and workshops about English language and American life—because it’s his job. How cool is that?
