Smart cities: Agriculture in the big city

  • America House

A lot of city resources simply are not used - roofs, yards, slopes, river banks. All these areas can be filled with gardens and orchards instead. Want to know how? Join us on October 22 to discuss ways of making the city smarter and greener with Ira Nikolenko and Oleks Suprunets from Meconomica, co-founders of Kyiv Farm initiative.

Based on the case of Kyiv Farm, urban farm in the downtown Kyiv, we will walk through the stages of setting up urban farm and use of agricultural design to transform public spaces.

For the spring and summer 2016 Kyiv Farm became a home for vegetables, salads, greens, berries, young farmers, entrepreneurs, engineers, kids, yoga classes, musical concerts, 200 dirt warms, and many smiles. Join us on Saturday to get to know more about ways of going green in the city, become a driving gear in remodeling the grey city scape into one you are comfortable with.
